Canadian Red Ensign, 1870 – 1965.


The red flag with the Union Jack in the upper corner was known as the Red Ensign. It was made in 1707 as the flag of the British Merchant Marine. Coat of arms were added and was Canada’s “unofficial” flag for nearly one hundred years.
