Champaign and Cavier.

Dear member of parliament,
Is that what we feed our federal inmates, because how else could it cost fifty two thousand dollars per year to keep one inmate in prison ?
Satin sheets maybe ?
Something is costing an awful lot of tax dollars and really if the province can feed and clothe and house one individual for six thousand three hundred dollars a year, why would it cost fifty two thousand dollars to keep a convicted criminal ?
I am sure you can explain how you spend that much on keeping a criminal behind bars but could you then explain how it only costs the province six thousand dollars a year to keep one person who isn’t a convicted criminal ?
I would suggest a happy median might be found somewhere between the two say around the sixteen thousand dollar range just to equal and fair things out.
Sincerely Yours,
, Ontario, Canada

  1. Take the cost of food, add the cost of things from laundry and utilities through professional and trained guards, wardens, payroll boards and officers, medical personelle, various rehabilitation costs and I’m sure the price adds up quickly. Did you think it would be cheap to incacerate thousands of individuals each year? Would we throw them to rot in a deep celler in the basement of the Diefenbaker and let them eat the rats they find?

  2. Let them eat the rats yes and then they could do thier own laundry and save tax payers forty thousand dollars a year. Shouldn’t it cost less to house numerous individuals as opposed to one.Much less not five times more than an individual gets on provincial welfare in Ontario per year, not that you can collect that long unless you are unable to work !
Yes let them eat rats and clean your dishes for you.
