Subject: ATM /Debit/Credit card fees. Part II – “new and improved” with corrected date.
March 05, 2007
Dear minister of finance,
ATM fees on the poor and students are one thing.
Do you know that Banks charge the users of debit and credit cards without their knowledge or consent.
Vendors that have debit machines are charged by Banks every time a customer uses a credit or debit card without the knowledge or consent of the user. I drove a Taxi in
*, Ontario, our employers charged the drivers (lease drivers) a fee in some cases, ten percent, of the amount of every credit card purchase.
Recently I used the service of a taxi in *, Ontario and was charged a dollar and fifty cents on top of the taxi fare because I paid with a debit card.
Credit card and debit charges to vendors on top of the exorbitant interest rates and other charges to owners/users of credit and debit cards is the biggest financial scam in this country, including the “pay day money lenders”.
Users of these cards don’t know what it is costing.
Restaurant and retail stores for example are charged up to five per cent or more of every purchase when a customer ,who already pays for the service, uses a credit or debit card.
Bank charges, interest rates on credit and debit cards are a bigger scam than ATM fees are to the poor and students.
Sincerely yours,
*, Ontario, Canada
